Fire Precaution Works

To include all aspects of fire preventative measures to either 30 minute or 60 minute fire resistance.

This also includes the construction or upgrading of electrical intake cupboards, overboarding ceilings to the required fire rating, fire rated partitions with door sets, down to the installation of the appropriate signage.

Fire Door Installations

We have highly trained engineers who will install 30/60 minute fire doors with all the appropriate items i.e intumescent smoke seals, fire rated hinges, overhead door closers and intumescent letter boxes to reach the current fire standards.

Fire Door Checks & Maintenance

Additional to your fire alarms maintenance we can also carry out a 5 point visual fire door check

The 5 visual checks we will perform are as follows:

  • Check for proof it is a fire door.
  • Check the gaps around the top and sides of the door are consistently less than 4mm when door is closed (we will make a note if gap under the door is larger than 8mm).
  • Check intumescent seals around door or frame are intact with no damage.
  • Check door has 3 or more hinges with no damage.
  • Check the door closes firmly onto the latch without sticking to floor or frame.

This Report is only intended to check what we believe to be a fire door in the first instance and this Report is not intended to represent a certificate. When a new fire door is fitted it should come with the correct paperwork and should then form part of your Fire Risk Assessment. If this information or no indication that the door being checked has a label or plug it will be marked as unconfirmed. This check will not confirm if any ironmongery or associated works to the door comply with current regulations. For example, we will note if a spy hole or letterbox is fitted to a door but not if it is fire rated. A full physical site assessment can be made by our carpentry department on request. From that, any failed or unconfirmed items listed in this visual fire door check will be quoted for.

Fire Rating Upgrades

If existing doors meet a certain criteria, then it may be possible to upgrade the door to meet the current regulations and therefore in keeping with the existing characteristics of the building.  It may also be possible to upgrade existing cupboards.
